Newbie here.
I want to create 3 parallel timelines inside the Aeon timeline. Each one is a different category. For example: One tracks relevant events in US history; another tracks life events of a particular artist; and the third tracks the creative output of that artist.
I can list each of the events in one timeline, but how do I group them into separate categories?

You can set this up using Item Types.
Item Types are the different categories of information you want to track in your timeline. For your project, you could create Item Types for US History, Life Events, and Creative Output.
You can then group by those Item Types in the Timeline View to display them as parallel timelines.
Since each of your categories contains dated events, you may find it easiest to duplicate your existing Event Item Type and rename the copies. This gives each new Item Type the same starting fields and date settings, which you can then customize if needed.

Once you’ve created your Item Types, you can add new items using the appropriate Type.
For Events you’ve already added, you don’t need to recreate them. Select the Event and, in the Type section of the Inspector, click Change, then select the Item Type you want to use.
If the new Item Type doesn’t contain all of the same fields, Aeon Timeline will prompt you to review the change before continuing.

Add all of the categories you want to track as Item Types.
Open the Timeline View.
Click Content in the View Header.
Under Cards, tick each of the Item Types you want to display.
Click Group in the View Header.
Locate Type and select each of the Item Types you want to group.
If you have more than three Item Types and the one you want isn’t shown, click the downward-pointing arrow to open the full list.
If you want to group all Item Types, select All item types.
Your Events will then be separated into groups for each Item Type while remaining aligned chronologically on the same Timeline.
Note: These screenshots use the Historical > Political Timeline template, so the Item Types shown may differ from those in your timeline.
