I see how to add birth/death dates to a character item. How do I add other special dates, such as marriages, baptisms, etc.? Can I add custom “special” dates? I am writing a novel where the culture has special events whose date I need to be able to place on the timeline.
Their currently isn’t an option to add other dates directly to a character item. It is something on our feature request list.
If you wish to have other dates such as marriages etc. linked to a certain character, then the best way would be to create an event on the timeline for that situation (eg. "marriage of Character A and B) and then link the characters to that event via the Relationships tab in the Inspector.(eg. add Character A and B as Participants to that event).
Just came to ask if this is possible and found this thread. Agreed - I’d love to be able to add more dates to a character, or location.
Linking them to an event is ok, but that doesn’t show us the date of the event on the page, or when exported.
Since events like marriage affect several characters at once, @jess’ suggestion above definitely makes sense. This also solves the problem of attributing births not only to the child but also to the mother.
Just an idea: Why not just create an arc like “curriculum vitae of character x”, and assign it those “personal” events from birth to death?
Greetings! It’s been 3 years I wish to seek an update (if any) to this feature.
I reckon it is essentially important to have multiple dates assigned to individual event or character. As project manager, the feature also reveals the lifespan of one project over the timeline, birth, developing, settled.

I like to make an event for the Marriage, then create a calendar marker as an Anniversary. This way I can have multiple without cluttering up my timelines, which generally have a thousand+ events and god knows how many characters.
I am a bit perplexed that a tool for tracking timelines doesn’t allow for creating new date properties for a character. I assumed this would be precisely what this app did. Shelled out my coin and discover that only hard coded Birth and Death are dates you can track by character.
What about enlistment date? For each of a dozen characters.
Please add the capability to create custom properties that are dates.

At the moment, Birth and Death are the only date fields built directly into Character items.
For additional dates, such as Enlistment, Marriage, Graduation, or similar milestones, we currently recommend creating a separate Event (or other Item Type) for each important date and linking it to the relevant Character using Relationships. This allows those dates to appear on the Timeline and continue to work with features such as dependencies and constraints.
We understand it would be very useful to make it easier to view and manage multiple important dates associated with an item. It’s something we’d like to improve in the future. However, any approach needs to work seamlessly with the rest of Aeon Timeline and support the wide variety of ways people use the app. Because of this, it will take time to design a solution that works well across those different workflows.
