Can I create an event that start in the past and run until now (yet)?

Hi Jochen,
As Canne suggested, you can set the End date to Present to create an Event that starts in the past and continues through to the present. Thanks, @Canne, for taking the time to provide the explanation and screenshot!
There are two ways you can set an Event as ongoing:
1. Using the Inspector

Select the Event.

Find Date in the Inspector.

Next to End, type present into the date field.
The Event will then extend from its Start date through to the present.
2. Using the Spreadsheet View
You can also manage ongoing Events directly from the Spreadsheet view:

Open the Spreadsheet View.

Click Content in the view header.

Click Ongoing to move it to Shown.
The Ongoing column will now be visible in the Spreadsheet. Tick the box for any Event that should continue to the present.
When you tick Ongoing, the Event’s End Date, if displayed in the Spreadsheet, will change from its previous date to Present.
You can untick Ongoing again if the Event is no longer ongoing. When you do this, the End Date will be set to today’s date, rather than returning to the End Date that was previously entered.
