I have far more tags than I can remember, so I need to see a list of tags to choose from. It doesn’t work for me to start typing and have it autocomplete. I can’t reduce the number of tags.
There has to be a way to do this but I can’t find it!
You can select multiple items in a spreadsheet, or narrative list view. Click the 100% sign in toolbar above first event and reduce to 50%, then hold ctrl key and choose as many visible events as want and open inspector. Based on categories you have added you can click add ( in example location) and choose a value to add to all selected items at once. Mine have lots of data shown, the gray tags are keywords from Scrivener imported when sync. I use these to build a data base of “tags” inside Aeon and use the imported tags as guides to add similar info in Aeon, See Image.
“Tags” are added in the Item Types under Settings (cogwheel icon in upper right)
Hmm… Because I’m using one of Aeon’s templates, my project already has an Item Type called Tags — except it does not appear in the Item Types or in the Side Panel. I already have thousands of records and hundreds of tags inside that Tags item type.
If I make an Item Type called Tags2, that works beautifully as you describe, except I already have thousands of records and hundreds of tags inside that Aeon-created Tags item type. Aeon won’t let me copy the tags from Tags to Tags2.
I wish Aeon would make the Aeon-created Tags in its template file visible in Item Types and in the Side Panel.
The only thing I can think of is pick the most crucial tags, being it characters, locations, etc. now if filter by a tag or several like New York and Philly and make tags visible on narrative card you could add key values several scenes at a time. Don’t see other way to get around it unless use icon color as to group tags visually.
The crucial tags aren’t in other item types like location or characters, they’re in the “Tags” item type that’s built into one of Aeon‘s templates. The tags in this “Tags“ item type contain all sorts of tags that do not fall under any of the other item types that Aeon provides. Unfortunately, their item type called “tags“ is not fully functional because it does not appear in the items type list or in the side panel and cannot be used to search, sort or cut-and-paste. It has auto-complete and functions like a multiple-choice drop-down box, only nothing drops down. Oddly, it does appear in the Filter on a spreadsheet.
In the future, I will make my own tags item type and use it as you describe.
