Layout Suggestion - Borders Around Events

I’ve attached an example timeline where I’ve drawn a border around some of the events.

Significantly Increases Legibility

I think it significantly increases legibility for large timelines or any timeline where there is a mix of data types where it’s difficult to see where one event ends and another begins.

Simple Implementation

How about a checkbox for BORDERS - NO BORDERS. This can be in addition to my previous request for a horizontal divider between fields.

Genuine Measurable Benefits

I will soon be sending my timeline (1500+ events) to a solicitor for a significant legal matter. Lawyers can charge between $200 and $500 per hour. Not only would borders help reduce the time it takes to INITIALLY read the document it would reduce the time it takes EVERY time the lawyer needs to find information. I honestly think this feature might reduce my legal fees by many thousands of dollars.

The borders even help ME locate information more quickly, and I’m intimately aware of the information because I’ve been producing it for the last few years - so I think it would help everyone else immensely.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing this example and for explaining the legibility issues you are running into.

We can see how borders or stronger visual separation between events could make a large, information-heavy timeline easier to read, especially when it is being reviewed by someone who is not already familiar with the material.

Your point about reducing the time needed to locate and interpret information is helpful context, particularly for workflows where the timeline is being shared externally or used in professional settings.

We’ll pass this feedback along to the team for consideration. We also have plans to improve the ways users can differentiate or highlight events, so examples like this are useful in helping us understand where those improvements would have the most impact.

Kind regards,
