Subject: Aeon Timeline 3 — Scrivener narrative sync works, but relationship lists are empty
I have successfully synchronized my novel’s narrative structure, including chapters, scenes, titles, and synopses, from Aeon Timeline 3 to Scrivener 3 on macOS.
However, I cannot synchronize the detailed event relationships, particularly Person (participants), Observer, POV, and Story Arc.
In Sync Settings → Sync Relationships, both the Keywords and Custom Metadata selection lists are now empty, even though all these relationships are populated in Aeon.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there a setting in Item Types, Relationship Types, or Narrative that controls which relationships appear as available synchronization options?
I would appreciate any guidance before making further changes to my existing projects.
What I did was use keywords with info for POV, Story Arcs, characters (as minor ones/observers) I use custom metadata for start and stop dates for events as text fields, I created a notes text field to send notes back and forth between the programs. I then create the POV’s, Characters, Story Arcs, clues, magic items etc based on keyword tags in the narrative event cards. and relationships are set up on the events or characters themselves.
Welcome to the Aeon Timeline forum, and thanks for reaching out!
I understand you’ve run into some difficulties syncing your relationships with Scrivener, and I’d be happy to help you work through this.
One setting worth checking is whether Narrative is enabled for the relevant Item Types, as this may be affecting which options are available in your sync settings.
To check this:
From the top menu bar, select View → Show Settings.
Select Item Types tab.
Select Person from the list.
Under Visibility, check whether Narrative is ticked.
Repeat this for any other relevant Item Types, such as Story Arc.
