I am trying to make a timeline for hurricanes. They go through phases, eg, Tropical Depression, Tropical Storm, Hurricane cat1, Hurricane cat 2, Tropical Storm, Tropical Depression. I would like to show one like this
Yellow = Tropical Depression
Green = Tropical Storm
Red = Hurricane
No overlaps
The triangle is the best I could do for an event (diamond), and would indicate landfall.
That is an interesting exercise, Jim. I solved it with Aeon Timeline 2 as follows:
To make it quick, I took the novel template and created arcs as hurricanes (of course, it would be more elegant to create a “Hurricane” item type that essentially has the properties of the arc).
Then I created each phase as an event with the right color, and assigned it to the hurricane. I made the phases dependent, so the whole “hurricane” can be moved along the timeline.
In Aeon Timeline 3, you do not have to collapse the hurricane groups to see this type of display.
On Timeline View, if you click on the “Customize item card” icon in the bottom left (the card icon) and tick “Marker only”, this will show the events lined up next to each other on the one line as you are looking for (as long as they don’t overlap in time).
